February!
Good Day friends and family, and welcome to February.
February is a great month. Let me tell you why. Here's a list of things (in the order that they are going to happen)
1.We will finally be done with our old apartment (and with that, the less than stellar guys upstairs, the manager who says he'll take care of things, but never does, the road construction, the cars going way over the speed limit, and the folks that always seem to get pulled over (for going over the speed limit) right in front of our house). We give our key back in just a few days. *sigh of relief*
2. We have lived in UT for a year this month. That's still an odd idea to me. We live in Utah. And we are going to be here for a while (from what we can tell). Often times, we feel like we are the only couple in the area that didn't grow up here, didn't go to school here, didn't marry some one from here, etc. Most every one assumes that we are students at BYU or UVU. Understandably. We are the same age as many college students. Often times, when we tell folks that we are here for a job, they assume we are in UT to search for a job, in which case they respond with "oh...good luck with that. tough market". They don't realize that we are here because we have the dream jobs/careers. We're set. Also, since we do not have children, most people assume we have been married for less than a year, (or even just a few months) not that we have been together for almost 4 years. (2.5 married, 1 dating, and 1 month of friendship, and 3 months engaged)
3. Valentine's day is this month! Fantastic day. Special day, all about love.
4. Also, Valentine's day is 6 months from our wedding anniversary.
5. Thirdly, it is the anniversary of the day Jess started his job. It's just a special day. I'm excited about doing something fun/out-of-the-ordinary/celebratory.
6. The birth-right brother is coming to town (along with his awesome wife and 2 kiddos). They will be spending a couple of days with us. We're excited.
7. In conjuncture with that, it's President's Day weekend. I love weekends, but I especially love when they are long.
8. Leap Day! A day that is so rare, the average person experiences it less than 20 times. That's such a cool day. And since it is rare, it should be celebrated (I like having reasons to celebrate).
Also, mixed in there is the super bowl. We will not be watching it this year, but we will be eating well in order to celebrate it. I'm contemplating having a dip party. Maybe not that day, necessarily, but some time this month. Perhaps.
Also, there is groundhog's day, which means nothing to me.
